Goodbye 2011

hullo readers! i hope you are enjoying your new year's eve, whoever it may be with and wherever you are. this video is my gift to you. if you can even call it that... i literally recorded it and simply uploaded it. excuse its raw nature and imperfections! i'm a bit embarrassing. after the midnight fireworks, i'll be heading over to nicholas's! just want to spend the new year moment with mumsy, like i do every year :$

2011 was 365 days of pain, anguish, whirlwinds, joy, bliss, regrets, thrill, accomplishments and happiness. i found myself, achieved my goals, came in the bottom 10 in an exam, lost loved ones, made others cry, had smiles put on my face, had apologies being made and received, had the best birthday present given to me by my fellow peers that was a ginormous mexican wave, made it to the grand final of mock trial, was recognised in the hurlstone community for my contributions on presentation night and, above that, was given such a great role in my beloved school. there are many things i would do again and do differently, but there are also many things that only occurred because of the tragedies that fell in front of me.

that is the most concise way i can put this year. nothing i write will sum up what it has meant for me, what it has brought me and what it has taught me. i thank each and every one of you and wish nothing but the best for youuuuuuuuuuuu, dont forget me, i pray, i rememberrrrrrrr youuuu saaaaaaaaaid. okay, i'll stop. hehe. so much love to all and i'll see you soon! ♥

"it's christmas! i can finally open my presents! no more feeling guilty that i ate all the chocolates in my advent calendar 10 days early!" those were my initial thoughts this morning amongst a stuffed nose and blocked ears. being sick during this time of year is not exactly ideal, but the joy around me relieves it so s'all good. was very close to pulling out of my performance at church yesterday, but when i arrived, there was so much tinsel and flashing lights everywhere that i made my dad drive me home to grab my guitar! he wasn't very happy. then at today's mass, was about to pull out again but just couldn't. couldn't. it's christmas and if i'm going to celebrate god's birth with germs and coughing and sneezing and inabilities to pronounce 's' sounds then i shall!

if this blog post ends abruptly and gets posted without any sort of finite conclusion then just know that my death was due to my craziness with mortein in an attempt to eliminate a spider that was crawling around my desk.

two days ago was the so called white boys christmas party! a big thankyou to their group for inviting me. the party was awesome and i had so much fun! funny, because i was forced to play cod a couple of times. failed at cod a couple of times. it's amazing how nice some people can be...especially when i'm on their team and all i do is walk around and shoot chickens and my own team mate. the atmosphere was so warm and daniel dog's is so cuuuuuuuuuute!

the most exciting part: kris kringle! the excitement from the very moment emily asked me to be a part of it, aw :$ was so flattered. the variety of presents was amazing and everyone liked their present! so this is basically the kk results as it stands, folks (where → stands for 'was the secret santa for'):

ysolde → andrew → shelley → george → tyrone → daniel → jordan → emily → luke → myself → avi → troy → ysolde

i had this gut feeling that it was luke and confronted him on several occasions during the last term but luke and avi were so good at covering it up and would always feed me those "wth" stares whenever i accused him of having me for kris kringle. that threw me well off. when it came time for me to guess who bought my present for me after i opened it, i went through at least 4 names before luke exclaimed, "what?!" and started pouting. it made me feel kinda guilty. but then i just laughed at his fireman calendar and it was all okay. thanks luke for the 'w' charm for my bracelet hidden in the stocking. when i initially opened it, i thought he had gotten me a $15 stocking. was actually very impressed, to be honest.

avi got troy a voice changer which just solidified their love for each other as each other's 'chocolate bears'.

we then played mafia, which was definitely another highlight (if you dont know the game, i suggest you skip the next two paragraphs because they'd be quite boring, sawwwwwy!). i have this love for the game.. especially because when i play some other card game like bullcrap, i always lose. i cant lie so when it comes to my turn and i dont have the card needed, i'll just grab the pile and sulk. mafia means having others on your side who help you to lie. morally speaking, that's not any better, but at least others are goin' down with me. daniel's version of mafia is the best i've played and involves roles such as seer (gets to choose to see one person's card at the start of each round and then use that knowledge to influence voting in elimination processes), cupid (chooses two people to 'fall in love' and when one person is killed, the other dies too. nobody knows who they are except for the two lovers) and witch (has one save power and one kill power to use throughout the entire game). the mafia are known as werewolves.

luke and i actually started to team up halfway after getting sick of always getting the civilian cards. whenever he got a 'good' card, he'd feed me a pun to try and hint it to me and vice versa. for example, "wendy, i can't tell you which card i have" or, not as subtly asking, "hey guys, what's a pun for cupid?" during the werewolves' turn to kill. i got cupid once and made luke and i fall in love. i was killed during the 4th round or so, which in turn killed luke and he had to reveal his card as well. to my surprise, he was a werewolf which was devastating...because it meant he chose to kill me. but it turns out the other two werewolves, tyrone and avi, were adamant on stabbing me in the back after i accused the both of them during the last elimination process. luke and i got annoyed so we just ate all the allen's snakes and challenged him to knot one of them. and he did which apparently means he's a good kisser. so girls, line up!

it's a coincidence that cranium was played in both the christmas parties i have been at. the two different editions, however, provided awesome variety. having to convey 'nappy rash' to my team mate in the form of a sketch was not the easiest of tasks but it was so much fun. thanks again, guys, for inviting me, teehehehe.

thanks avi for my strawberry charm, christmas bauble and bunting flags! i've strung them up and they look awesome! thanks mylynm for the blackboard, and mum and dad for suede cobalt pumps. to all my lovely readers: i wish you all a fantastic holiday season! fight til the death tomorrow at boxing day sales and i'll see you all very soon! fankyew for reading, frans!

Three French hens

it's that time of year again! i can't help but confront the world with my mouth outstretched and non-gleaming teeth exposed as lights tinkle and tinsel drapes. tis the season of giving, and that means a lot of journeys to and from my wrapping-paper-and-ribbon-drawer which i absolutely adore. okay, let me list the things i like about wrapping presents as to justify my extraordinary love for it before any of you classify me as anything near crazy cat lady level:

- the smell of wrapping paper
- that feeling of accomplishment when you cut a section of wrapping paper from the roll in one stroke by sliding your scissors along smoothly
- ribboning and all its different colours and patterns and sizes
- choosing the perfect combination of paper and ribbon
- i dont know anymore reasons but four doesnt seem like enough
- ...maybe i am just weird. but no, i'm not. i'm not!

yesterday was my group's christmas party at the wonderful genevieve's house, whose camera all the photos above originate from. titled "chillin" on facebook, it proved to be very relaxing while enjoying the company of all the beautiful girlies! i am so blessed to have such great friends.

kris kringle was the most exciting part of all! we had to wait for danica and sophiea to come though, and they did manage to come. 4 hours late. cool, thanks guys, made us wait for that long. whatever their reasons were, we weren't very forgiving. once they arrived, we handed out all the kris kringle presents (which had been placed in the middle, wrapped in newspaper) and structured ourselves into a circle. let the unwrapping begin!

we opened it one by one so we could all have a turn at guessing who was our kk before and after our present, and so photos could be taken. such a thrill! so many tears when heartfelt cards were read out. yes, that included me. i'm such an emotional little beanstalk. axe me some slack!

my present was so neatly wrapped but i couldnt figure out who it was. kris kringles alway fail because everyone just finds out who everyone has but for some strange reason this year, i havent heard my name been tossed around at all! the writing on it which said, "to wendy, do not shake!" and i couldn't recognise the font either... opened it carefully and it was a brown cardboard box with a red ribbon on it. and instantly everyone screamed, "genevieve!" then sophia said, "only you are that anal."

then someone said, "in both ways."

genevieve put so much effort into it. so honoured to have had genevieve as my kk :$ she even cut the paper inside it herself. i ate all the macaroons (delice at lindt) and wow. great flavour picking, g! wah wah wah, basically, love it, love every bit of my present, everybody else liked their present too and cant wait until kris kringle next year!

my holidays have consisted of omgpop, eating and promising myself hourly that i will do work in the next hour. not as productive as i imagined. i did go to belvoir st theatre to watch 'as you like it' though! it was exquisite! not as boring and un-understandable as i thought it would be at all. seriously. even if you're not in year 12 next year: go watch it. that's how good it is. i guarantee you will not regret spending $40.

speaking of my birthday, i would just like to express my gratitude for all those that came together to celebrate it with me! i wasnt even going to have a birthday party but my friends organised one! on top of everything, the whole grade came together and gave me a massive mexican wave-- which was what my response to the "what do you want for your birthday" question! "a giant mexican wave!" my wish came true! you guys are amazeballs, i cant get over it!

thankyou to vivian for capturing this moment

and as promised to andrew, george and emily who bought me this magnificent card: i have coloured in the fishies! dont judge. the card is such a hard plastic material that my pencils, crayons and textas wouldn't work...so this is the result. 'colouring fun'? i dont think so. my hands hurt and my dignity's gone. hahaha, thanks guys, the card and present still very much appreciated :)

i wish you all a very merry christmas! i will definitely be in touch before the new year, but until then, be good and may santa stuff your stockings! thankyou for reading ♥
